Jaworski Talks About Bringing Philadelphia Soul to Atlantic City for 'Boardwalk Bowl'

The Philadelphia Soul will be heading down to the Shore in May to play a regular season home game in Atlantic City. The "Boardwalk Bowl" will feature the Soul taking on the Las Vegas Outlaws in an Arena Football League game at Boardwalk Hall on May 30. The nationally televised game is the first major sporting event brought to the city by the newly formed Atlantic City Sports Commission.

The idea for the game came from Ron Jaworski, the Soul's co-majority owner and ESPN commentator who formerly played quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.

"If it works I get the credit, and if it doesn't I'll take the blame," Jaworski said.

As a South Jersey resident, Jaworski is concerned about Atlantic City and its struggling casino industry. He thought bringing an Arena Football League game to Boardwalk Hall could benefit both the city and the football team.

"We are always looking for ways to expand our brand and get more recognition outside the Philadelphia metropolitan area," Jaworski said. "Boardwalk Hall is a great venue. It holds 10,500."
