Soul Players Visit the Hope Partnership for Education Students

Players on the Philadelphia Soul visited the students at the Hope Partnership for Education middle school where they spent time with the students inspiring and motivating them. The Hope Partnership for Education is is an independent middle school and adult education center endorsed by and founded in the tradition of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and the Sisters of Mercy with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

The school  is located in one of the most impoverished zip codes in Philadelphia.  Median household income for a family of four is below the federal poverty level. The neighborhood conditions are very difficult.  Fewer than 35% of adults living in the area have a high school diploma. The school provides academic, social and spiritual guidance to the children of low-income families as well as an active adult education program for those individuals seeking to obtain a GED.  Staff at the school also provide a program that supports the children through their high school graduation.

In its fifteenth year of history, the middle school has graduated many students, all of whom have gone on to a four year high school and over 95% of whom have received their high school diploma, and 50% of whom have gone on to a two or four year college.
